Place your topic in the shadow or create shadow with a scrim. Shadows are simply as important as the light; what you see or quite don’t see in a picture helps to inform the story. Partially place your subject in a strip of exhausting daylight and expose for that portion of the image. If you may be including flash in changing light circumstances, think about using through-the-lens metering. This uses your camera to approximate the ability of the flash on a frame-by-frame foundation, so as the circumstances change, the output will vary mechanically. These are nice for portraiture, and are often used due to their superior quality in sharpness, large most aperture and focusing talents.
